State Fair

Last month we had a great time taking the kids to the State Fair. We met up with our good friends the Thompsons and the Dunphys and everyone seemed to have a nice time walking around and seeing the various attractions.

Jake was so excited by this truck because he had one that looks just like it at home.

Outside the hay maze...Jake and Mady couldn't get enough of this!

They melted my heart when they took off hand in hand!

They also started dancing which was pretty adorable.

Mady was in love with the pigs...she thought they were pretty hilarious.

I thought these two were pretty cute.

The little chicks were adorable as well. You could even hold them if you wanted to...

...Mady did not want to! She kept reaching out for them and then shrieking and pulling her hand away!

We couldn't believe they had a giraffe at the petting zoo...the kids were pretty impressed.

Jake was semi-excited by all the animals...

...the tractors were what he was really into. He would have jumped on every single one if we let him.  In fact, he was pretty disappointed that he couldn't drive the giant combine harvesters....maybe one day farmer Jake :-)

Jake thought it was pretty fun that he could sit inside the wheels on the really big tractors.

The talking/music playing robot man was nice enough to pose for a picture for me.

Thankfully Mady was happy in her stroller for most of the day and even took a decent nap for us.

Holding our delicious cold treat the was big enough for the whole family to share...not sure what's up with the crazy face!

Mady and Emma "watching" The Hollywood Racing Pigs...the poor girls really couldn't see anything but they did remarkably well sitting patiently in their strollers.

Jason and Jake had a better veiw of the pigs...but I don't think Jake really knew what to make of them.

The last attraction of the day was the circus!

Jake was so excited for the circus to start even though he looks totally unenthused in this picture. The highlight of Jake's day was at the very end seeing the motorcycles driving in the steel cage...he was so sad when it was all over, I think he could have watched them for hours.

We had so much fun visiting the State Fair and made tons of great memories. We finished off the day by stopping at JAKE'S for burgers on the way home...which was another funny memory because both of the kids were acting totally loopy since they were so exhausted. We didn't make it home until around 8:30 at night and all of us were definitely ready for bed by that time! I'm pretty sure we'll be heading back next summer for some more fun!
